About Elaine

Elaine Shuster was born and raised in the DC area and lived there her entire life. She attended Frostburg State University and the University of Maryland after graduating from Peary High School in Rockville, MD. She began teaching in the early 1980's in Montgomery County as a special education teacher. Her career started at Sligo Middle School (her childhood school) before finishing up her teaching career at Brooke Grove Elementary in Olney, MD., in 2010.

Elaine will always be remembered for her work with children and for her kindness in the community. She was involved with ORT America and volunteered with Montgomery County Libraries. She was also involved with The One Hundred Club of Montgomery County and the Brandeis National Committee. Her work in the community coupled with her passion for teaching shocased her heart of gold in every aspect of her life.

Elaine passed away on December 21, 2013. She was 67 years old. She is survived by her loving husband Jerry Shuster, sons Eric and Brian (Mary Beth), and her grandchildren Emma and Benjamin.
